Looked for in Xero on email, then name. Updated when found; otherwise created under a contact name Xero accepts as unique.
Name, company, email, phone or address changes
The same change is made to the Xero contact on the next sync.

Both connections are checked
Credentials for FreshBooks and Xero are checked and sign in tokens refreshed automatically. If a connection was removed on either side, the integration pauses and you get one message with a reconnect button.
Conflicts
When both sides changed the same record
- For each two way record type you choose whether FreshBooks or Xero leads. The leading side always runs first in a sync.
- It only matters when the same record changed in both systems between two syncs. Every other change simply travels.
- A record is never moved backwards by a sync: a paid invoice is not reopened, a decided quote is not undecided.

- Xero locks it once money is applied, so only the due date and status keep travelling into Xero.

Yes. Contacts, invoices and quotes sync in both directions, and you choose which system leads when the same record changed on both sides.
No. FreshBooks does not let an app decide an estimate, so accepting and declining happen in FreshBooks and travel into Xero.
A payment in either system becomes a real payment on the invoice in the other, for exactly the amount newly paid.
No. Before anything is created in FreshBooks or Xero, the platform looks for the same record first and updates that one instead. Records synced before stay linked.
