What syncs between Square and Jobber
Direction words mean exactly what they say. Two way means changes flow in both directions and the platform keeps the two systems agreeing. One way means data flows from the source into the destination.

For contacts you pick which system leads: when the same contact changed on both sides between syncs, the leading side wins. This pair syncs customers both ways and nothing else. Square's API lets no app record a payment on an invoice or change its payment status, so an invoice paid in the other system could never become paid in Square. Rather than sync invoices that stay open forever on one side, this pair syncs customers only.

Customer or lead, proven
Square has no lead flag, so the platform proves it: a customer with a fully paid invoice, or a booking that actually took place, counts as a customer. Detection only promotes, never demotes.
No duplicates
Linked records are matched by id; the Jobber side checks email and phone before creating a client.
Phone numbers Square accepts
Square checks every phone number against the numbering plan of its country and refuses a local number such as 06 12 34 56 78. The platform rewrites it to the international form using the customer's address country. A number Square still refuses is left out so the customer itself still arrives, and the log names the number.

Change detection at the source
Square supports searching customers by last update, so a settled sync asks only for what changed.
Echo protection
On the two way contact sync the platform remembers what it wrote, so its own update coming back from Square is never mistaken for a new change.
Rate limit aware
When Square asks the platform to slow down, it waits exactly as long as asked and resumes.

Everyone, customers only, or leads only.
Sync from date
Only records dated on or after a chosen date travel. Contacts have no date and always travel.
Frequency
From every 30 minutes to every 3 days, per plan. Every 4 hours is included on every plan; faster intervals come with the higher plans.

Official sign in (OAuth)
Square connects with its official sign in (OAuth): click Connect, sign in to Square, approve, done. Removing the connection from the platform also revokes the app's access at Square's side, so nothing is left behind.
